Views of the site shortly after landslide, January 2004: mass movement of approximately 3,000 cubic yards of old fill material on a residential property near Bond Brook

Views of the site summer 2005: some natural revegetation in bottom areas but steeper spots remain exposed; bank is incising into lawn as erosion continues.

Bank reconstruction and stabilization, September 29 - October 6, 2005

Stage 1: Knock down overhangs and build earthen platforms for excavator. Work from top down to smooth slopes.

Stage 2: excavate trench for French drain; hand install perforated pipe at location of seep; crushed stone will be placed over the pipe

Stage 4: Install rock spillway from low point of lawn to bottom of bank; spillway connects with French drain to direct all flow

Stage 5: Finish shaping the bank and prepare surface for seeding; berm at top is added protection to slopes during revegetation and directs surface flow to the rock spillway.

Stage 6: Hydroseeding with mulch/seed mix on entire surface. Subcontractor: Longfellows Hydroseeding.

Hydroseeding held up fairly well under torrential rains (6" in one day) shortly after application. Hydroseed was reapplied on one side of slope where mulch had become saturated and slid off. Surface runoff from driveway and lawn is going directly into the rock spillway as intended.

Tree seedlings and shrubs planted along perimeter to mark the edge of the bank.
